Why Tech Editing?

Employee Retention

Employee Retention: Offering your esteemed senior staff access to a skilled technical editor provides valuable support during busy periods for your hard-to-replace project managers. This enables them to concentrate on marketing, management, and mentoring in the field.

Improve Report Quality

Improve Report Quality: A quality review should make suggestions encouraging the writing to improve with each project.

Go-By Blindness

Go-By Blindness: We've all been there. While templates ensure consistency, it's simple to overlook details like outdated project names, persistent language, and inaccurate data. A professional tech edit can offer a fresh perspective precisely when and where you need it most.

Client Retention

Client Retention: Rushed and inattentive reviews can erode organizational credibility and trust. Clients consistently opt for consultants who deliver a reliable and consistent product.

The Process

How it works.

1

Consult

Set up a consultation to see if we would be a good fit. We can discuss your team's needs and discuss GPC rates.
2

Contract

Set up an MSA or independent contractor agreement where we will set expectations of how we will work together- I have one or am happy to use yours.
3

REQUEST REVIEW

Submit a review request with the Word or PDF document attached, your experience level, preferred due date, and any other notes.
4

Accept and Review

I'll acknowledge the request within a few hours, providing a specific return date. I suggest allowing 3 to 5 business days for the review, but I'll aim to complete it sooner if possible.

Elizabeth Yañez Dosser

A little about me.

NCTRCA Certified MWBE, DBE, SBE

I have over fifteen years of experience specializing in natural resource permitting, NEPA, and overall constraints analysis. I have been a shovel-wielding field grunt, construction inspector, report writer, and project manager. I have experience in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. I have worked on projects in the following industries:

• TxDOT and ODOT
• Aviation
• Water Infrastructure
• Commercial Development
• Oil and Gas
• Solar and Battery Storage
• Municipal Flood Control Projects

Technical editing enables me to merge my expertise in environmental regulation with my keen eye for grammar. That document causing you stop-and-go frustration? The one with multiple authors, various project name changes, boundary adjustments, or multiple redlines from THAT agency reviewer? I've got it. Let me provide support to your team when needed with a fresh perspective. GPC is a woman-owned LLC that is certified by NCTRCA as a MWBE, DBE and SBE firm. Below is a condensed GPC resume, however, an extensive project list can be provided and tailored for industry-specific proposals.

Frequently Asked Questions

A little more information never hurts.

Are you a MWBE?
Yes! GPC is a woman-owned LLC that is certified by NCTRCA as a MWBE, DBE and SBE firm.
Can we use GPC on an as-needed basis?
Absolutely. Sometimes, your staff will have the bandwidth for peer review, and you won't need external support. I am here to help when needed.
Are you available to team up on Request For Proposals (RFPs)?
Yes, adding GPC as QA/QC support to your team on a proposal can show your clients your commitment to quality. It can also make it easier to contract me down the road. See my generic resume below.
What is the difference between a copy edit and a line edit?

A copy edit will be just grammar and syntax, acronyms, figures and captions etc. This is usually the final step in a document where you are confident about the written content.

A line edit means you would like some word-smithing and suggestions on how to make the document read smoother, checking for data consistencies, and ensuring the whole document is ready and accurate. You would typically give a copy edit task to an entry-level professional and a line edit to the more seasoned project manager. Line edits will usually need a copy edit after its polished.

A copy edit takes less time and effort.
How does contracting work?
If we decide to work together, I will provide a contract with some agreed-upon terms, billing, and a signed commitment to keep your team's proprietary approach and project information confidential.
